About Fort Mill South Carolina
Located south of Charlotte and north of Rock Hill is Fort Mill Township. Fort Mill has a rich history, including in the 18th century, when Thomas Spratt and his wife were traveling through South Carolina and spent a night among the friendly Catabawa Indians. The couple was invited to stay and live in the area on a large amount of land given to them. The two became the first settlers that resided in Fort Mill, and their descendants still live in Fort Mill. One of their descendants, John Spratt, was a representative in the house for 28 years.
